Has your fear of flying stopped you going on a holiday/business trip? Are you so terrified of coming across an insect it stops you enjoying your garden? Maybe your fear of heights or enclosed spaces even stops you from using the glass lift on the outside of your office? There are too many phobias to mention, from the well-known ones above to the lesser known phobias, such as fear of buttons, fear of toads, fear of thunder and lightning, fear of snow (last December must have been hellish for chionophobes).

Question by Daniel: Really bad performing anxiety please help?
I’ve had this problem for many years, but over the last 2/3 years it has got much worse. I didn’t think it would last, and I expected it to improve BUT now it’s worse. I do a Graphic Design degree involving a lot of presenting in front of big groups. Over the summer I have not done any presenting and that relieved it for some time, but I feel like this has made coming back difficult, knowing I have to push myself even harder.
But every time I know there is a group discussion, I find the build-up to it so intense. So much that I feel physically sick. It takes over so much that I have missed days off college knowing it is an expectation. For me this is both humiliating and frustrating. I really want to get up there and say what I know is in my head, but the anxiety is like a separate part inside me that’s gone out of control. It makes my mind blank – and that means I will go up there and look ridiculous. I feel like I just can’t relax under these circumstances. Sometimes I can say things, but it is never completely in control. As I know everything is graded that adds to the extent of my anxiety.

Question by Chris R: Would a hypnotist be able to help with public speaking fears?
…As well as nearly uncontrollable nail picking which is making my hands look kinda bad?
How much do they run and do you have to keep going back on a recurring basis?
