what should i do for my public speaking class?
For my public Speaking class I have to teach the class how to do something. It is supposed to be about 5-7 mins. long. We have to use props in someway or give handouts or a powerpoint or something. The professor said make sure it is something you are already good at so it will be easier but I can’t think of anything I could teach them. We are mostly business students, but it can be about anything basically. I was thinking to do how to balance you checkbook but that’s something i would have to learn. Then i thought I would do how to get an internship but most of them have already done that…..any ideas?
Public Speaking-related Class Projects should not be mandatory — Do you think I can make a difference?
I’m 16 years old and I was going through a very hard time in my life last year while I had to read a very personal poem I wrote out loud to the class. Normally a popular kid, I was extremely embarrassed of the poem but read it out loud anyway. Long story short, I pretty much choked and have had major problems reading out loud ever since.
I was wondering if writing a well-written letter to the principal, vice principal, dean of students, etc. in my high school requesting an alternative to all public-speaking projects, speeches, etc. could make a difference and have that new kind of rule enacted? I mean, I used to take for granted my ability to speak to large groups without nervousness, but now I can’t. In my case, it’s just my own nervousness that almost drags me into a depression weeks before the presentation/speech is even due — But I hang in there. Other kids may — and I’m sure have in the past — turn to drugs, commit suicide, drop out of high school, etc. all because of the anxiety speaking in front of large groups causes them. Don’t underestimate anxiety, especially considering the fact that public speaking is the #1 fear in America, exceeding even death.
I am going to my 1st Gymboree Play & Learn Class tomorrow what should I expect?
My daughter is going to be 14 months, and tomorrow is her 1st class for “play and learn, level 3 for 10-16 month olds” what should I expect? Are the children playing the whole time? Will I have to do or say anything in front of everyone? I am horrible at public speaking and I would like to know if the teacher might make me do anything like that? What about the music classes? How do those work?
Thank you.
Why can I not get into a Public Speaking class?
All of them are closed. I am trying to get into one class, I emailed the professors, but they shut me out. I do not need this class to graduate, but I want to do it for my own self ful-fillment, cause one of my greatest fears IS Public Speaking.
What should my next move be? I am trying to avoid an 8am class, so I am trying to drop Comparative Politics for Middle East Politics, Public Speaking or a seminar in Modern European History.
Public speaking class?
OK. I can feel nervous and start to shake even just reading few sentences in front of class. I practice A LOT and learn A LOT of “tips”. Absolutely nothing helps. I’m thinking a public speaking class is my last chance to overcome this terrible fear. Toastmasters is like for 18+. So what other good public speaking class you recommend? (my school public speaking class is closed. And I don’t want to see doctor)
Again, I’m not looking for tips. I’m looking for public speaking class. I live in Middlesex, NJ.
Do newscasters & professional public speakers take class to learn to ‘bob’ their heads all over when they talk?
Most newscasters and public speakers bob their heads up and down and side to side very unnaturally when they speak. Where do they learn this very annoying and uncomfortable task? and Why?
I have very rarely had anyone do this when talking to me. None of my teachers have ever done this weird phenomenon.
Reading my story to a class of people? Fear of public speaking!?
So tomorrow I have to read a short story I wrote in front of my classmates, in a 10th grade english class. It’s big, and I know a few people in it, but the problem is MY VOICE DOESN’T CARRY. And before you hit the answer button and say speak louder, don’t take me as an ignorant person. I have tried, and it hurts. I’ve talked myself hoarse and people still can’t hear. I was talking about it to my mom and the clinking of her putting a stovepot top away droned out my voice. It’s just pathetic. I need tips on how to:
a] Overcome fear of speaking in public
b] How to speak loud enough without becoming a mute
c] How to control a class of 32 while reading.
Please give me some help here, I’m dreading it.
What do I do, I have to give a speech tomorrow in my public speaking class and I have a lot of anxiety on it?
I just am so nervous about it I am sure it will be fine but it is really hard for me to speak in front of other people.
Public Speaking anxiety in speech class?
I’m in high school but every time I have to make a speech in speech class I get extremely nervous, my heart starts pounding very hard, I even tend to blush red during the speech and can barely make any eye contact whatsoever. How can I prevent this from happening- I even worry about these speeches days before I make them. HELP!!!
