I have a tendency to stutter when nervous and this makes my anxiety worse.

A friend of mine is attending public school in US. He just moved here from Ukraine and speaks Russian. The school where he attends is a small town so there are no other Russian-speakers. The school is working on finding him an English tutor. They say it could take a month or two to find a Russian-English interpreter for him. Anyone have a good idea for him to start working on English on his own?

I mean whenever I try to speak out my thoughts especially in the classroom, I feel embarassed.

Ever since I moved to the US, I’ve had a tremendous fear of public speaking. Almost 10 years later, this fear is still hunting me–shaping my life as I try to avoid it.

I’m a member of a local Toastmasters club. The practice does help. But for some reason, the fear is still there. Since I started, I’ve become so accustomed to the audience there, that it stopped being a challenge. However, every time I even think about speaking at work, my hands would sweat.

I know how important it is for my future to reduce the fear.
However, there are so many methods out there that I’m just confused at this point as to which one I should try. If you have personal experience in this area, please let me know what is the best way to reduce this fear. Thank you

I am in college and will have to give oral presentations. I am extremely nervous. I have did public speaking in class before and was a total wreck. My voice begins to shrill, I shake a little, my underarms begin to itch and my face heats up. Because I try to get through it fast I have often skipped many of my major points because I just want to hurry up and finish and sit down. These presentations are mandatory and nothing I’ve tried in the past worked such as picturing everyone naked, practing it beforehand, and taking deep breathes. Anyone have other suggestions.

There are literally hundreds of supposed solutions advertisd on the internet. I’ve tried one-telephone counselling- without much success-and at considerable cost. I’m looking for advice from others who have researched this issue and perhaps successfulyy resolved their phobia.
