Phobias are when someone has an irrational fear of a specific situation, object or activity.
Examples are; fear of driving, fear of snakes, fear of public speaking, performance anxiety and stage fright. Sufferers recognize that their fear is out of proportion to any actual danger but are unable to control it or even explain it.

Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorder being present in between 9% and 18% of the population. Taken together phobias are the most common form of mental illness in women and the second most common in men over 25. Phobias in children are also quite common, severe fears are present in about 10-15% of children and specific phobias are found in about 5% of children.

About Social Anxiety/Phobia

Today I want to touch on Social Anxiety Disorder,  also known as Social Phobia. 

Nearly all people experience nervousness or shyness in certain social situations,  this is normal and is not a disorder.  However for someone with social anxiety the fear is so extreme it is debilitating and disrupts both personal and professional relationships.

This disorder is so much more than shyness and anyone who suffers with it should get treatment in the form of therapy or medication.

i have to do a 3 minuet Presentation in school really soon, and it’s one of the most nerve wrecking experience that i face. I have done other presentations before, and they were fine, i was nervous, but its ok, my life went on. But i cant stand feeling this way anymore. I try to tell myself its just 13/14 year olds, and a-lot of them in that class are very chill and laid back. Any advice besides the whole “imagine them in their underwear” because that doesn’t work for me!! Does anyone else get super dizzy, like your about to pass out and have your heart feel like it will Jump out of your chest??

How can I tell someone about my math phobia/LD?

I haven’t been diagnosed with LD.But I believe due to my math symptoms and poor teaching levels from primary schools.I may have Dsycalculia.How can I tell this to my counselor?
Will she provide me with help?
