I really need help! I’ve been struggling with this for several years, now coming at the climax, and I’m finally realizing that it is actually a fear of disapproval.
I hate it! It fences me in so much! It interrupts my life. I make myself suffer because I’m too afraid to speak up. It feels like this is ruining my life. I cry just about everyday because this is getting to me.
How can I get over this? Please help! Thanks in advance.
I have an extreme fear of public speaking, in fact I would rather eat bugs than give a speech. I am more nervous about BEING nervous during my speech. When I get up to do my speech, I feel confident but then all of the sudden, my voice starts to shake, my hands shake uncontrollably, I can’t see straight and it seems almost like I’m in a dream. My heart starts racing and it feel’s like my whole body is on overdrive, it’s completely horrible. The experience is so bad I never want to do speeches so I always talk to my teachers and get out of it and eventually get point deductions. I cannot live my life to this. Can anyone share their stories of overcoming speaking in front of classes? Does anyone have any advice on how I can overcome it? The shaking, nervousness and anxiety happens during every speech no matter how confident I am in doing it. The thing is, in Spanish Class it is very easy for me to present and be myself, but otherwise my fear is really debilitating. I need help.
I’ve never really been afraid to speak in public, especially not when answering questions during class. I’m 19 years old and I’ve developed this form of stuttering/brain lock anxiety. When I go to answer a question, I know the answer and I start talking and make eye contact with someone and my brain locks, and all i can say is UM….
It’s awful, and embaressing. I don’t know where this came from and it only seemed to happen in ONE CLASS. Now it’s happening in conversations with one or two people. I just get so nervous I get off track and fear what they will say.

A friend of mine is attending public school in US. He just moved here from Ukraine and speaks Russian. The school where he attends is a small town so there are no other Russian-speakers. The school is working on finding him an English tutor. They say it could take a month or two to find a Russian-English interpreter for him. Anyone have a good idea for him to start working on English on his own?
